Why is matter only 5%

We all know and have seen that matter is only 5% in our universe. You guys may ask what is the 95% of the rest of the universe. Well, it is dark matter and dark energy.
The scientists and cosmologists call it such because of the fact that is not visible to the eyes of the mankind but we can still see the gravitational pull of it. another fact that it is there is that universe has an uncountable number of stars so our night skies should be lit up with white dots all around and no darkness. However, it is not so. We know that there is some kind of substance or matter that fills the gaps between these celestial objects. This is dark matter
